a four day weekend

We were quite lucky to get a four day weekend, but that is because of the cancelled Singapore trip. Nonetheless it was an eventful weekend.

We got the fence up, not we exactly but Ludwick. He is a German ex great Dane breeder, has a fear of snakes, very neat, but best of all he talks to the fence posts.

The fence that Ludwick built

The dogs soon realized that the water is not too cold for a swim.

This is not a great picture but we purchased a Broy Hill dining table+chairs from a local Antique store.

Jeanne Boice (our realtor) and her husband Rich Boice of Boice Brothers Dairy along with their son Blaze and his friend Alex came over Saturday evening. The adults went through 5 bottle of wine and the kids drank a competitors milk. It was a fun filled evening.

Packed up and ready to go back to JC.

I won’t be going up this weekend as i have to work but we will be enjoying the goodies we bought back from the Kingston Farmers market and the Boice Milk products gifted to us by the Boice family. I am sipping the eggnog as I type.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving.

We went up to the house this past weekend. This time with a little more supplies. We plan to take with us all the extras we have collected over the years and a whole lot of second hand stuff. Reuse and Recycle. Speaking of second hand stuff we did see a lovely dining table at the local antique store and we are hoping it is still waiting for us this weekend.

We shopped for groceries at  Adams Fairacre Farms. Its the the place to go for the freshest foods…and yes i cooked 3 meals in our new kitchen.

Jesse swam in the water along with JuneBug and were pretty exhausted romping around all day. Even Storm who is the lazy one was up and about. We know they were tired because the slept the entire way home.

our first weekend

After picking up the dogs from our gracious dog host(she deserves her own post), we headed back to the home with the doggies in tow. Waiting for us ws a bottle of wine and a set of oars from Jeanne. So thoughtful. Did I mention we got a canoe with the house?

It was an exciting first weekend. We were examining every corner of the home and were just giddy headed with all the empty space.

Our Jersey City neighbours and friends, Latha, Krishna and their dog Luke came over on Saturday. Well i have to mention this here but Krishna was so excited about the water that he got his feet wet, horizontally. Yes he slipped into the water and sorry Krishna I still laugh till my stomach hurts.

A late lunch at Tango, and a walk around Saugerties led us to some very interesting stores including www.RockStarRodeo.com

Bill Yosh the owner of the store had rented out his home to us two years ago. We fell in love with the place and met Jeanne(our realtor) and two years later own a home right across theirs. So I guess we are all neighbours now. Super nice Bill gave us a super cool kitchen articles poster as a gift.

We had our first meal in our home on Saturday night. I initiated it but Krishna cooked. It was amazing considering we had minimal ingredients but with three bottles of wine it was all good.

Sanjay raked the leaves and cleaned the gutters this weekend. He felt very satisfied with himself and I was too.

We made it.

After two long years of searching for a home, we finally closed on one this past Friday. October 29th at 11am to be exact.

It’s a vacation home, weekend home, second home or whatever else you want to call it.

The closing was done at Michael Bruhn Jr. office who is also a candidate for Kingston City Court Judge.  In attendance was  county clerk, the bankers lawyer, the sellers’ lawyer, the seller(who was very nice) a very hillaroius sellers agent Jean and the best realtor we know Jeanne Boice. All in all the closing took exactly one hour.

Jeanne showed us home after home for the past two years. Incredibly patient and understanding she is not only a great realtor but also our good friend…well okay our only friend in Saugerties.
